Cortona, the Etruscans, and the Chianina are the main themes of the episode of "Origini" that will be broadcast on Saturday, December 28th at 11:25 AM on Rai Uno. The show, hosted by Valentina Caruso and Francesco Gasparri, was filmed a few days ago in Cortona, including the Sodo Archaeological Park, the Maec itineraries, and several Chianina breeding farms.
During the filming, Mayor Luciano Meoni took the opportunity to meet and personally thank the entire team: "Public service," said the mayor of Cortona, "thus plays an educational role and promotes the territory to all those interested in history and archaeology. For the cultural heritage of Cortona, this is a great opportunity, especially in relation to one of the area's excellences, such as the Chianina."
The Cortona episode of "Origini" was produced by chief author Pietro Raschillà and Luciano Palmerino, with contributions from Paolo Giulierini, archaeologist, writer, and former director of Maec and Mann, Eleonora Sandrelli, writer and coordinator of Maec's museum services, Bianca Gioia Marino, professor of Architecture at the University Federico II of Naples, tour guide Silvia Vecchini, and among the breeders, the L'Oleandro farm of Sciarri. "The Chianina, for over 2000 years, has served both as a 'tractor' for land reclamation in our beautiful Valdichiana and as a delicacy on our tables," said Francesco Attesti, the Councilor for Culture. "It is a virtuous example of functional agricultural economy that has passed from the Etruscans to us and should be enhanced and promoted."
"It is important that the historical representation of our past focuses on the Chianina," said Paolo Rossi, the Councilor for Productive Activities. "We believe it is important, despite the passing of centuries, to value those who contribute to the economy by finding a new way to integrate the tradition of breeding."
