6. The Boutonniére
The buttonhole, or "boutonnière" as it is called in French, is an elegant floral detail that adds class and sophistication to the groom's outfit. Made with fresh or artificial flowers, it can be matched with the color of the tie or bow tie for a coordinated look. Composed of flowers and leaves, it is usually applied to the left lapel of the jacket and represents the "groom's bouquet," which is also worn by witnesses and close family members, such as the father and brother. The choice of flowers should reflect the style of the event and the groom's personality: for a "country" style wedding, one might choose wildflowers, daisies, wheat stalks, or aromatic plants like sage and rosemary. For a classic look, orchids, carnations, roses, peonies, and tulips are preferred, while exotic flowers add a unique touch to the outfit.
